It appears Apple cannot keep the gold iPhone 5s on shelves. The first device to be offered in a color other than the traditional black/white was reported to be sold out instantly in China where gold is a popular color for electronics. Major carriers in Europe are also experiencing shortages of the gold iPhone 5s.
There are a couple ideas around what has caused the shortages, speculatively it could be the high demand for gold electronics in Asia or Apple inflating demand. Regardless the gold iPhone 5s is repeatedly sold out in all stores.

Today, Apple began taking orders for its new iPad Air online and opened its retail locations at 8am in the United States. The iPad Air is lighter, with a narrower bezel than the previous iPad model, and sports Apple’s 64-bit A7 chip architecture which can also be found in the iPhone 5s. The iPad Air reception was welcomed with modest lines at retail stores around the world, but as with the iPhone, many users order online to avoid waiting in line. Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple would have an abundant supply of Airs for launch day, but it’s smaller counterpart, the iPad mini, would be constrained at launch later in November. ‘It’s not clear if we’ll have enough’ iPad minis with Retina displays for Christmas, said Cook.

According to sources close to the matter, China Mobile is set to officially launch the iPhone on its network beginning November 11th. November 11, or Singles’ Day, is the busiest shopping day of the year in China. Last year it generated $4 billion in online sales alone. China Mobile is the largest, and only carrier in China that is not offering iPhones currently. They have been aggressively setting up faster 4G networks that would allow the smartphones to function optimally. Several leaked advertisements in China have revealed that the iPhone will make its debut on the network on November 11th. This deal would represent the largest network that offers the iPhone to date. China Mobile and Apple China officials declined to comment on the rumors.

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced during the quarterly earnings call on 10/28/13 a figure some may or may not have been shocked by. According to Cook, iPads are attributed 94% of the tablet market in education. This figure in my opinion fortifies the “ease of use” I’ve come to admire in iOS. If a product can dominate with 94% of the market share, it must be easy to use, right? Additionally with the plethora of educational apps in the App Store(40,000 at this time), it’s almost a no-brainer when the question in an educational facility arises, “Apple or Android?”. All these educational apps are also designed especially for the iPad from the ground up, utilizing features such as multi-touch, accelerometers and airplay, developers have a pretty big canvas for creativity. Another great feature of iPads the general public is probably not aware of is a program called “Apple Configurator”, this allows you to manage all your devices in the environment from an enterprise standpoint. Apple Configurator allows you to essentially without an IT department deploy standard configurations, assign devices to users, update devices to the latest version of iOS, configure settings, and install apps among other things.
