With non-touchscreen Zunes soon to be a thing of the past, and microsoft shifting to a more service-based business model, according to Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet, the company is exploring whether to offer Zune services and software on other hardware.
One of the devices being considered is Apple’s iPod.
One advantage of this move for iPod users would be having the option of paying for a subscription to download music rather than paying on a per-song basis.
“We are evaluating a lot of options in terms of platforms,” says Jose Pinero, Microsoft’s Director of Communications for TV, Video and Music. “Our next step is mobile phones, but we haven’t talked about a timeline for when that will happen.”
