Germany will soon move away from the single iPhone carrier model, according to Der Spiegel.
T-Mobile, the mobile arm of Deutsche Telekom, has been the sole carrier of the iPhone in Germany since the launch of the first model in 2007. The company signed an agreement with Apple to carry the iPhone exclusively much like carriers who sold the first generation iPhone worldwide.
Since the launch of the iPhone 3G, however, Apple has negotiated deals with multiple carriers within countries. O2 is expected to be the next iPhone carrier in Germany and the company may start offering the iPhone in November, when T-Mobile’s exclusivity is scheduled to expire.
