Wednesday, Motorola took out a full-page ad in the New York Times for its latest smartphone, the Droid X, that bluntly snubbed the competing iPhone 4:

Apple has posted a job listing on its website for Antenna Engineer - iPad/iPhone at its Santa Clara Valley location.
Some of Apple’s requirements for this full-time position:
-10+ years of experience in RF with at least 5 years in antenna design and test for wireless consumer products.
-MSEE required, PhD is preferred.
-Must have working experience of antenna design and tests, anechoic chambers, and RF test equipment. Hands-on is a must.
-Must have strong problem solving skills and strong working knowledge of radiation performance. Antenna and wave propagation theoretical background is essential.
Apple may be looking to bring in people to address problems with the iPhone 4‘s reception that the company had previously underestimated.
The skills and experience specified and the timing of the post could indicate this job posting is directly tied to customer complaints of antenna and reception issues with the latest iPhone.

Apple is promoting forty eight applications expanded for the iOS 4 upgrade with an Awesome iOS4 Apps section in the AppStore.
iOS4 offerings at the AppStore include Flight Control and Bejeweled 2 Blitz. Apple has excluded applications incompatible with its latest mobile operating system.
GamePro reports that, while adapted for the iPhone 4, most of the featured titles will also work on older Apple handhelds.

MacDailyNews reports that a reader recieved a personalized response from Apple CEO Steve after asking about the difficulty of understanding iOS4 multitasking:
“People shouldn’t have to understand multitasking. Just use is [sic] as designed, and you’ll be happy. No need to ever quit apps.”

Customers can now buy films in HD through a new section of the Apple iTunes store offering high definition movies for $9.99.
Titles include 3:10 to Yuma (2007), My Best Friend’s Girl (Unrated), and Bangkok Dangerous (2008).
iPodNN reports that there are about thirty fairly obscure movies for sale in the section and that titles can be rented for a base price of $2.

Bloomberg reports that Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. mobile-phone company, will start selling Apple Inc.’s iPhone next year, ending AT&T Inc.’s exclusive hold on the smartphone in the U.S., two people familiar with the plans said.
The device will be available to customers in January, according to the people, who declined to be named because the information isn’t public. Brenda Raney, a spokeswoman for Verizon Wireless, did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman, and Peter Thonis, a Verizon Communications Inc. spokesman, declined to comment.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the stock prices of Apple, Intel, Google, and Dell are all dipping Tuesday as investors speculatate on a less than vibrant global economic outlook.
Shares of Apple (AAPL) had lost about 11% of Monday’s closing value as of 12 noon today.
