The FBI has launched an investigation into the security lapse that left the personal information of iPad 3G owners like New York’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg vulnerable to predation.
The Wall Street Journal reports that “the FBI is aware of these possible computer intrusions and has opened an investigation,” according to FBI spokeswoman Katherine Schweit.
The vulnerability in AT&T’s website that produced about 114,000 email addresses of iPad owners was pointed out by Goatse Security.
AT&T announced it had fixed the glitch on Tuesday.
“It shouldn’t be pretty hard to figure out my email address,” said Mayor Bloomber Thursday. “To me, it wasn’t that big a deal.”
