AllThingsDigital reports that multiple music industry sources have been told by Apple that a keynote event is planned for the week of September 7.
The exact date and of the event is still unclear although the company usually holds such events and announcements on Tuesdays, which would suggest a September 8 date.
An update to the iPod line could be in the cards for the event as Apple has historically refreshed its iPod family following the end of its Back to School promotion in September.
The company could also unveil Cocktail, an iTunes feature which bundles full-length albums with interactive goodies.
Apple has held media events every year since 2005 and they have all included iPod updates. Its 2007 event (“The Beat Goes On”) introduced the first iPod touch while last year’s event (“Let’s Rock”) saw a refresh of the iPod line.
