Apple plans to improve the MacBook Pro‘s dual graphics chip in future models, AppleInsider reports.
The company reportedly has in its labs next-generation MacBook Pros that can switch between their integrated and discrete graphics processors automatically.
The current MacBook Pro line-up requires users to manually swap between an integrated Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics card and the more powerful 9600M GT discrete processor. First, the user must change settings in the notebook’s Energy Saver system preference pane by choosing the graphics card, then log out and log back in for the change to take effect.
The source could not confirm whether this new feature would arrive in time for the next MacBook Pro hardware refresh.
