MacNN reports that problems achieving the correct paint thickness on the front panel of the white iPhone 4 may have been solved, according to a source.
The new iPhone demands that the paint be applied to the front panel “in a way that doesn’t affect the proximity sensor or create light bleeds.”
Having conquered this obstacle, the source reports, Apple could be ready to start shipping the white iPhone 4 very soon.

This rumor is in direct contradiction to Apple’s official announcement that white iPhones won’t be available until late this year.
When I learned that news, I decided to gave up waiting for a white iPhone and proceeded to purchase a black one (which I am very happy with BTW).
If I were trying to negatively influence iPhone sales (and there are plenty of competitors and their fans who’d like nothing more), I’d manufacture a rumor that white iPhone was imminent.
The other rumor I’d put in the same category of FUD is the one where Apple was supposedly delaying white phone production in order to incorporate a hardware revision to address the “finger touch of death”. This makes no sense if you think about it. Why only white phones?
