Several recent customer complaints have prompted Apple, Inc. to remove software seen as “overtly sexual” from the App Store.
About 3% of the material previously available from the App Store has been expelled since February 18th, or around 4,000 to 5,000 applications seen as inappropriate.
“Wooble iBoobs,” which has been downloaded more than 970,000 times, was deleted last Friday in accordance with Apple’s changed guidelines.
A letter from the iPhone App Review department to the makers of the app reads:
“We have decided to remove any overtly sexual content from the App Store, which includes your application. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. If you believe you can make the necessary changes so that Wobble iBoobs (Premium Uncensored) complies with our recent changes, we encourage you to do so and resubmit for review.”
According to Apple’s discussion with ChilliFresh, maker of “Wobble iBoobs,” the new rules regarding App Store content are as follows:
No images of women in bikinis (Ice skating tights are not OK either)
No images of men in bikinis
No skin
No sexual connotations or innuendo: boobs, babes, booty, sex – all banned
Nothing that can be sexually arousing
No apps will be approved that in any way imply sexual content
No silhouettes that indicate that Wobble can be used for wobbling boobs
