App Store data suggests strong iPod touch holiday sales.

MobileCrunch reports that the App Store experienced very heavy traffic coming from iPod touch devices this holiday season according to mobile app analytics company Flurry.

On Christmas day, download volume for the iPod touch jumped nearly 1,000%, making iPod touch app downloads surpass iPhone app downloads for the first time.

App Store downloads from November to December increased by 51%. Google’s Android market had strong growth of 22% but is still some way from being a threat to Apple.

Flurry’s data suggests very strong iPod touch sales this holiday season.
