The upcoming iPhone 3G might not be available for the fully subsidized price at UK Apple stores on July 11th, according to a report in Mobile Today.
With the first-generation iPhone, customers bought the handset and signed up to the service through iTunes at home.
However, now that the device is being sold at a heavily subsidized price, buyers must sign up for the mobile service on the spot and Apple has no means to carry out credit checks in its stores or staff familiar with the subscription process.
An O2 spokeswoman said: ‘We are currently working closely with Apple to enable them to issue contracts in store. Full details are still to be confirmed.’
