The iPhone SDK Roadmap event took place today at Apple’s Cupertino, CA headquarters.
The company made several announcements regarding the iPhone:
Release of the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK)
iPhone 2.0 software update: Enterprise iPhone announcements
Apple has satisfied its corporate customers’ wishes with the announcement of these new features. Features such as Push email, calendars and contacts, VPN, the ability to view PowerPoint attachments and remote wipe will be added to the iPhone. The update is expected to arrive in June.
iPhone 2.0 software update: the App Store
New application that lets users browse, search, purchase and wirelessly download third party applications directly onto their iPhone or iPod touch. The update is expected to arrive in June.
Demonstration of several iPhone applications
Multiple iPhone applications were demonstrated during the event. One of the apps included an official AIM client for the iPhone.

Apple is hosting a media event to announce its plans for the iPhone SDK.
“Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features,” Apple said in an invitation sent to reporters.
LOOPRumors will have live updates for the event starting at 10am Pacific, 1pm Eastern.

Apple Expo 2008 has been officially announced and will take place from Wednesday, September 27th to Saturday September 20th.
Some people were predicting the demise of the Apple Expo since no official Stevenote has taken place at the event in the last two years, but they have announced plans to continue the show with registration opening in 2 months.
Some notes about the Apple Expo are as follows:
- The event is renamed “Apple Expo Remix”
- The event will take place over 4 days, September 17th - September 20th.
- There will be a late session on Thursday night until 10:00pm.
- the event will take place at the usual location in Paris.
- Apple will be present with the same size booth as last year.
This French Expo is most notable for the introduction of the new iMac G5 form factor in 2004, and has also been the launching pad for iCal, the wireless keyboard and mouse, as well as major enhancements to .Mac.

Apple is set to release a software developer kit next Thursday, March 6th. Invitations to the event, which takes place at Apple, Building 4, Town Hall at 10:00am went out to select reporters today.
The SDK will allow third party developers to create native applications that will run on Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch, and future touch devices.
“Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features,” Apple said in an invitation sent to reporters, according to Crave.

Live from Apple Store Soho in New York City, iTunes welcomes Grammy Award-winning Maroon 5 for a one-of-a-kind, intimate show.
The band will perform the songs from It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, live and electric, from front to back.
Apple advises fans to arrive early as space is limited. The show starts on Sunday, February 24th at 7:00pm EST.
Apple’s SoHo store hosted Linkin Park last night as part of a secret special event.

According to several sources, Apple is planning a secret event scheduled to take place in New York City. AppleInsider claims that Linkin Park has been tapped to play at the event, where a product will be launched.
Earlier rumors pinned February 26th as the date for a special event, however, Apple has not sent out invitations or confirmed anything as of this publishing.
The Cupertino company has said that Apple will release a software developer kit for the iPhone by the end of February, and it is believed that major developers have already been working on native apps that will launch at the SDK release.

The web is buzzing with rumors that Apple will host a Special Event on Tuesday, February 26th. TUAW claims that the company that does television for Apple’s live events and Macworld is apparently hiring for an unannounced Apple event at the end of February. 9to5Mac believes the date will be February 26th.
Apple is scheduled to release a software developer kit for the iPhone and iPod touch in February, and could use this forum as a release for the SDK.
Other introductions might include new MacBooks and MacBook Pros with Penryn chips, and multi-touch trackpads.
